MapleStory Cleric Guide

Cleric
Requirements
- First Job Advancement at Level 8 as the Magician
- Second Job Advancement at Level 30 and passed the 2nd Job Instructor's Test

Introduction
The Cleric is the most important class in the whole of Maplestory due to their support skills and which benefit all other classes.

The Cleric's support skills like Bless help fellow party members gain bonus defences for both physical and magical, additional accuracy and avoidability. A support skill like Heal ensures constant recovery of the Cleric's own HP as well as the party members' HP. An exception is Invincible which only applies to the Cleric and not fellow party members.

The Cleric's attacking skills like Heal helps the user recover his/her HP and attack Undead based monsters at the same time, no other classes have this unique ability.

A Cleric is arguably the easiest class to train and at the same time save on HP pots which in turn saves Mesos (the in-game currency) .

A Cleric's greatest disadvantage is his/her low damage compared to other classes as they are designed to be more of a support class than to be an independent class.

Skills
1.) Overview

These are the Cleric's Support Skills:

Heal, Bless & Invincible

These are the Cleric's Attacking Skills:

Heal & Holy Arrow

This is the Cleric's Support & Attacking Skill:

Heal

These are Common Skills for all Mage classes (Fire/Poison, Ice/Lightning & Cleric):

MP Eater & Teleport

2.) Explanation & Analysis

i.) Heal
Heal is both a Support & Attack skill for the Cleric.
This skill can be said to be the Cleric's essential and
key ability useful and important to both him/herself
as well as to fellow party members.

1.) As a supporting skill, Heal ensures steady recovering
of self's and Party members' HP helping
both to save on HP pots.

2.) As an attacking skill, Heal attacks up to 5 Undead based
monsters unlike other 2nd Job Wizards' AOE skills which
attack up to 6 monsters.
2.1) Why is this so? This is because Heal besides attacking
the Undead based monsters, ensures the user's HP is kept
to full to prevent being killed by the monsters. (This
basically lets the Cleric have infinite HP when training on
Undead based monsters.)

The Mastery Level of this skill is at Level 30. The higher
the skill level, the more HP it heals and the more damage
it applies to Undead based monsters.

Heal is dependent on the Cleric's INT points and level
meaning the higher the Cleric's INT points and level, the
more HP it recovers and the more damage it applies to
Undead based monsters.

Heal being such a wonderful skill has its own disadvantage
or rather weakness --- when the Cleric is healing 5 Undead
based monsters, the damage dealt is split among the total
number of monsters which translates into the more monsters
being healed, the lower the overall damage is being dealt. If
the Cleric was in a party training on Undead based monsters,
the cleric and party members will take priority over
the Undead based monsters meaning if party members
were to be healed while the Cleric is healing Undead based
monsters, the damage and number of monsters will be even
less.

Example: A Cleric has 2 party members training at the
Undeads, both of them are within the Heal range and at the
same time there are 5 Undead based monsters within the
Healing range as well. What will happen is instead of 5
monsters receiving damage, only 2 will receive damage as
the Cleric and his 2 party members have priority over the
Undead based monsters.

Heal is believed to be the fastest attack skill among all Mage classes.

ii.) Bless
Requirement: At least 5 Skill Points on Invincible.
Bless is another skill that makes the Cleric an important character
when it comes to party training.

When maxed, Bless gives the Cleric and all party members +20
weapon defence, magic defence, accuracy and avoidability which
is what Warriors and Bowmen need.

One thing observed is that monsters that come into physical contact
with them will sometimes Miss due to the extra avoidability.

Bless cannot be used together with potions/skills that adds either
weapon/magic defence, accuracy, avoidability or all.

Bless lasts for a duration of 200 seconds at its Master Level (20).

iii.) Invincible
Invincible is a key skill besides Heal to ensure the Cleric's
survivability when training on monsters that deal high physical
damage.

Invincible at its Master Level (20) reduces all physical damage
dealt to the Cleric by 30% for a duration of 300 seconds.

Example: A Yeti's earthquake attack would deal up to 800
damage to a normal Mage while a Cleric of the same level with a
maxed Invincible would only receive 560 damage from the
same attack.

Invincible ensures greater survivability for the Cleric at Boss
monsters as well as they deal a higher amount of physical damage
than normal monsters.

iv.) Holy Arrow

Holy Arrow is the 2nd attacking skill for the Cleric. It applies an
additional 50% damage to certain Undead based monsters and all
Devil based monsters. On normal monsters, it deals 50% less
damage as it is a Holy-based elemental spell.

Its Master Level is at Level 30, meaning the higher the skill level
, the more damage it applies to monsters.

It's been debated that this skill is not a skill to be maxed. Why?
The argument is that Holy Arrow at Level 30 does 80 base
damage with a 60% mastery which is the same as Magic Claw
dealing a 40 X 2 (80) base damage with a 60% mastery at
maxed level. Another argument is that when the Cleric advances
to a Priest at level 70, there will be a new AOE skill named
Shining Ray which applies a base damage of 105 with a 60%
mastery at maxed level meaning that Holy Arrow won't be
used at all when the Cleric has advanced to a Priest.
MP Eater and Teleport will not be covered in this discussion as they are
common to all Mages.

Training Places
Level 30-35: Wild/Fire Boars at Perion, Green/Horned Mushrooms at Ellinia Tree Dungeon.
Level 35-40: Jr Wraiths at Kerning Subway, Chronos at Ludibrium Dungeon or Ludibrium Party Quest.
Level 40-50: Wraiths at Kerning Subway, Platoon Chronos/Master Chronos at Ludibrium Dungeon or Ludibrium Party Quest.
Level 51-55: Wraiths at Kerning Subway, Zombie Coolies at El Nath, Master Chronos at Ludibrium Dungeon.
Level 55-60: Zombie Coolies at El Nath, Master Chronos at Ludibrium Dungeon or Orbis Party Quest.
Level 60-70: All Undead based monsters at Singapore (Mysterious Path 3, Ghost Ship 1/2/5/6) , Soul/Master Teddy at Ludibrium Dungeon or Orbis Party Quest.

Skill Allocation Builds
1.) If your Cleric is to be an independent Cleric, meaning little or no partying but healing Undead based monsters all the way, this allocation build is ideal for you.

Lvl 30 - 1 MP Eater
Lvl 31 - 2 Heal, 1 Teleport
Lvl 32 - 5 Heal
Lvl 33 - 8 Heal
Lvl 34 - 11 Heal
Lvl 35 - 14 Heal
Lvl 36 - 17 Heal
Lvl 37 - 20 Heal
Lvl 38 - 23 Heal
Lvl 39 - 26 Heal
Lvl 40 - 29 Heal
Lvl 41 - 30 Heal, 2 MP Eater
Lvl 42 - 3 MP Eater, 3 Teleport
Lvl 43 - 5 MP Eater, 4 Teleport
Lvl 44 - 7 MP Eater, 5 Teleport
Lvl 45 - 9 MP Eater, 6 Teleport
Lvl 46 - 11 MP Eater, 7 Teleport
Lvl 47 - 13 MP Eater, 8 Teleport
Lvl 48 - 15 MP Eater, 9 Teleport
Lvl 49 - 17 MP Eater, 10 Teleport
Lvl 50 - 19 MP Eater, 1 Invincible
Lvl 51 - 20 MP Eater, 3 Invincible
Lvl 52 - 6 Invincible
Lvl 53 - 9 Invincible
Lvl 54 - 12 Invincible
Lvl 55 - 15 Invincible
Lvl 56 - 18 Invincible
Lvl 57 - 20 Invincible, 1 Holy Arrow
Lvl 58 - 4 Holy Arrow
Lvl 59 - 7 Holy Arrow
Lvl 60 - 10 Holy Arrow
Lvl 61 - 13 Holy Arrow
Lvl 62 - 16 Holy Arrow
Lvl 63 - 19 Holy Arrow
Lvl 64 - 20 Holy Arrow, 2 Bless
Lvl 65 - 5 Bless
Lvl 66 - 8 Bless
Lvl 67 - 11 Bless
Lvl 68 - 14 Bless
Lvl 69 - 17 Bless
Lvl 70 - 20 Bless

Comment: This build allows you to max Heal first followed by MP Eater and a decent amount of Teleport to cut down on MP pots usage. Holy Arrow is capped at 20 and not maxed as Shining Ray will be used as a main attacking skill when your Cleric has advanced to a Priest. Bless is still
maxed to aid you in your training as you will have an extra 20 Magic Defence and 20 Avoidability.

2.) If your Cleric is going to be a Party supporter all the way, then you should follow this build.

Lvl 30 - 1 Teleport
Lvl 31 - 3 Heal
Lvl 32 - 6 Heal
Lvl 33 - 9 Heal
Lvl 34 - 12 Heal
Lvl 35 - 15 Heal
Lvl 36 - 18 Heal
Lvl 37 - 21 Heal
Lvl 38 - 24 Heal
Lvl 39 - 27 Heal
Lvl 40 - 30 Heal
Lvl 41 - 3 Invincible
Lvl 42 - 5 Invincible, 1 Bless
Lvl 43 - 4 Bless
Lvl 44 - 7 Bless
Lvl 45 - 10 Bless
Lvl 46 - 13 Bless
Lvl 47 - 16 Bless
Lvl 48 - 19 Bless
Lvl 49 - 20 Bless, 3 Teleport
Lvl 50 - 4 Teleport
Lvl 51 - 7 Teleport
Lvl 52 - 10 Teleport
Lvl 53 - 8 Invincible
Lvl 54 - 11 Invincible
Lvl 55 - 14 Invincible
Lvl 56 - 17 Invincible
Lvl 57 - 20 Invincible
Lvl 58 - 3 MP Eater
Lvl 59 - 6 MP Eater
Lvl 60 - 9 MP Eater
Lvl 61 - 12 MP Eater
Lvl 62 - 15 MP Eater
Lvl 63 - 18 MP Eater
Lvl 64 - 20 MP Eater, 11 Teleport
Lvl 65 - 14 Teleport
Lvl 66 - 17 Teleport
Lvl 67 - 20 Teleport
Lvl 68 - 3 Holy Arrow
Lvl 69 - 6 Holy Arrow
Lvl 70 - 9 Holy Arrow

Comment: This build will max your party skills first like Heal and Bless followed by MP Eater to help leech MP if you are training with your party at the Undead based monsters. A maxed Teleport will greatly aid in less MP consumption as well.

3.) If your Cleric is going to train at Undead based monsters and party at the same time, i recommend this build:

Lvl 30 - 1 Teleport
Lvl 31 - 3 Heal
Lvl 32 - 6 Heal
Lvl 33 - 9 Heal
Lvl 34 - 12 Heal
Lvl 35 - 15 Heal
Lvl 36 - 18 Heal
Lvl 37 - 21 Heal
Lvl 38 - 24 Heal
Lvl 39 - 27 Heal
Lvl 40 - 30 Heal
Lvl 41 - 3 Invincible
Lvl 42 - 5 Invincible, 1 Bless
Lvl 43 - 4 Bless
Lvl 44 - 7 Bless
Lvl 45 - 10 Bless
Lvl 46 - 13 Bless
Lvl 47 - 16 Bless
Lvl 48 - 19 Bless
Lvl 49 - 20 Bless, 3 Teleport
Lvl 50 - 6 Teleport
Lvl 51 - 9 Teleport
Lvl 52 - 10 Teleport, 7 Invincible
Lvl 52 - 10 Invincible
Lvl 53 - 13 Invincible
Lvl 54 - 16 Invincible
Lvl 55 - 19 Invincible
Lvl 56 - 20 Invincible, 2 MP Eater
Lvl 57 - 5 MP Eater
Lvl 58 - 8 MP Eater
Lvl 59 - 11 MP Eater
Lvl 60 - 14 MP Eater
Lvl 61 - 17 MP Eater
Lvl 62 - 20 MP Eater
Lvl 63 - 13 Teleport
Lvl 64 - 16 Teleport
Lvl 65 - 19 Teleport
Lvl 66 - 20 Teleport, 2 Holy Arrow
Lvl 67 - 5 Holy Arrow
Lvl 68 - 8 Holy Arrow
Lvl 69 - 11 Holy Arrow
Lvl 70 - 14 Holy Arrow

Comment: This special build enables you to alternate between being an independent Cleric to a party Cleric. Holy Arrow is capped at 14 as you will be healing Undead based monsters to level faster while Teleport is maxed to enable Tele-spamming while casting heal and bless at the same time to buff your party members.

If you find any mistakes/errors with this build, feel free to let me know. Thanks!

Regarding Megaphones

I saw this mega of a Mapler ranting about how his Zakum party was gate-crashed by another Mapler and telling the latter to rot in hell.

I mean, what the heck is this?! This is just a GAME. No have to curse people till they rot in hell right?

A Weird Experience

On my way home from my MapleStory Guild outing, i was on the bus, enjoying the scenery when i felt a small hand pat my left arm twice...

I turned round, beside me was a little girl of age 4-5 years old. She looked at me and muttered these words, ".... Kuku Chiao ..." I smiled at her nicely and looked away. The next moment, she started making fun of my tummy and kept calling me fat.

I really felt like *** *** ***, but i ignored her as her mother was just seated opposite us.

Goodness, what are parents teaching their children these days? o.o
